Worried about your student son or daughter?

What's keeping you awake?

What’s keeping you awake?

If you’re worried about your student son or daughter and it’s keeping you awake at night, you might be in need of the support of a careers coach.

I’ve been in the same position, wide awake and trying to figure out how to say the right thing in the morning – something that won’t make matters worse. The trouble is that they’re either studying hard and saying that they’re too busy to go to the tertiary open days, or they’re not doing their homework, haven’t registered with VTAC and have no idea what they want to do after completing year 12.

Some have been looking at an ATAR calculator and are now terribly worried that they’re not going to get into their dream course. It’s all terribly stressful for parents.

If the very happiness of your teenage son or daughter is keeping you awake at night, the best you can do is to provide support. Be there to:

drive them to school

make a nutritious meal

make time to listen

show empathy by telling him that you understand, and

offer alternative solutions, such as dedicated support from a careers practitioner.

If what’s keeping you awake at night relates to the worries of your teenage son or daughter and their confusion over career pathways, clarity can be gained with help from an impartial, independent careers coach. Student testimonials on my website and Facebook Wall attest to the positive relationships I have developed with my clients and the fact that they have all gained confidence and self-reliance in the process.

Let me help you get some sleep at night 🙂
